Two Thousand And Great?

So what are your 'ones to watch' this year, then...?

Will we see a backlash against manufactured reality TV show stars? Will Nu-Rave disappear up its own glowstick? Has Emo finally had enough and locked itself in the cellar? And with 2008 looking like the year of money-spinning comeback tours for everyone from Boyzone to The New York Dolls, will any of them still rock it?

Over to you...

Not one to stick my neck out - I think a safe bet for 2008 is "Adele".

Ah I got the Adele album for Chrimbo - I haven't listened yet.

I am currently having my first full run through of Kate Nash's album - I'm so last year!

Also, usually Jools Holland champions some new band on his New Year show and they are often massive in the following year. This year he had Kate Nash and she's hardly going to release a second album in '08.

So it would seem that in his opinion this year is the year of Madness and Kylie!

I'd like to poke Kate Nash in the eye.

I hope Alphabeat (Danish six-piece) are going to be a success. Their next single, the catchy-as-a-cold Fascination, came out over there in early summer and I'm still not sick of it.

My other top tip is Ebony Bones, who is INCREDIBLE. Not only does she have ace tunes with killer titles ("Don't Fart On My Heart"; "No Blacks No Irish No Dogs") her live act comprises three Peckham nu-rave girls blowing whistles over X-Ray Spex-style pop-punk and was the most joyous thing I saw last year.

Also her drummer is (or at least was) Rat Scabies from The Damned. And she's working with Richard X now, too, which is always a good sign...

I'll post more about her soon.

And speaking of Richard X - I'm really looking forward to new material from Annie!

next revival has to be Oi....spearheaded by Garry Bushell; Cockney Rejects, 4Skins, Angelic Upstarts leading the way as we all have our heads shaved, then tattoo'd, then we support West Ham but all the time deny unpleasant political influences......Kate Nash will be in DMs, sta press, feather cut by end of year...mark my words.....Flares and slippers now that was a cracking debut single....

I don't think I'm qualified to comment on this since all my albums of 2007 came out really in 2006, and the only gigs I have planned for this year are the Spice Girls (work freebie, not my fault!) and My Bloody Valentine if I can swing a ticket from somewhere.. Both of which are far from new.

I'm off to iTunes to shamelessly steal you lots ideas now and pretend I am more up to date.
