Last FM - what are we really listening to?

Fourstar's earlier post made me think how I've become strangely obsessed with Last FM and also the song count on iTunes. I love and also hate the fact I now know what I actually listen to the most rather than kidding myself I mainly listen to cool stuff....

So question is, what are your stats on Last FM, and do you need to justify them? I've been on it since April, total of 4300 songs listened to, and my top 5 artists over that time are:
1. Sonic Youth - 249 listens (partly induced by a bout of obsessive listening around the time I went to see them live, partly by the fact I have about a billion songs by them)
2. Burial - 127 listens (I blame fourstar)
3. Arctic Monkeys - 103 listens (I'm a little surprised by this)
4. Toots and the Maytals - 98 listens (my favourite summer reggae tunes)
5. CSS - 94 listens (just a great album)

And in case you're wondering my most listened song according to iTunes is Deep In The Horchata by Death Vessel, which I have listened to 34 times since getting a new computer and reinstalling itunes in Jan last year.

I have played 4101 tracks in two and a half years. But then I don't listen to music on my laptop much. So I'm not entirely sure it's accurate - I'm wondering if it'll improve somewhat now I can scrobble the tracks played on my shiny new iPod Nano when I plug it in.

The bands that released four of my favourite albums of last year are in my top five:

1) Shiny Toy Guns (207 plays). Canadian goth-pop that doesn't know whether it's Depeche Mode, Garbage or Yazoo but is bloody ace anyway. Think

2) The Sounds (174). Oh The Sounds. Scandinavian rawk with masive hooks, mangled Swenglish and a cool-as-fuck rock chick that looks like Debbie Harry and acts like she's got an Asbo. Amazing. Just. Amazing.

3) Dragonette (129). Supposedly Mercury's great hopes for 2007, but nobody gave a toss. Shame, as their album is cracking - think Gwen Stefani circa Hella Good meets Gary Numan meets Kish Kash. I still love them, even if nobody else does.

4) Saint Etienne (84). No comment necessary, surely. Surely this band is one of the greatest of all time...?

= 5) Maia Hirasawa (75). Another Swede. Debut single 'And I Found This Boy' still makes me grin, not least because it's the cheeriest-sounding song in ages and the video is set in a gents and features a giant rat on the drums. The album's great too - tho I'll be surprised if it gets a release her :(

= 5) The Shortwave Set (75). I didn't listen to their one and only album that much when it came out, but I rediscovered it this year - and it's like Broadcast without the jarring noises. Or the first Goldfrapp album with proper drums and no histrionics. Can't wait for the next one.

My top ten tracks includes 'You Came' by Kim Wilde. A record I will defend until the sky falls in and we're all fucked.

My problem is that I share my iTunes with Kat so it's difficult to say exactly what is hers and what is mine. So I haven't been scrobbleing:

On the track side front here are the artists who performed the most listened to songs: Warren Zevon, Gnarls Barkley, Joni Mitchell, Spinto Band, Blur, The Flaming Lips, Ben Folds Five, Breeders, Joy Division, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, Jefferson Airplane, Lemmonheads, The Beatles, Stephen Malkmus, They Might Be Giants, Grandaddy, Simon & Garfunkel, Labi Siffre, Travelling Wilburys, Franz Ferdinand, Anthony & The Johnsons, The Undertones, White Stripes, Johnny Cash, Muse, T-Rex, The Fartellis, Adam Ant, Jimi Hendrix, The Divine Comedy, Scissor Sisters, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson, Joan Baez, The Dandy Warhols, Morrissey, Frank Black and Britney - Bitch!

There's a bit of a backwards slant with this isn't there because I still listen from time to time to stuff from two years ago, but new stuff that's been added recently hasn't shown up yet. Inneresting.

Actually have just realised that this list will be missing out: Bob Dylan, The Feeling, Magic Numbers, Thea Gilmore, Ghosts, Nina Simone and Su George who I only listen to really via CD in the living room. And people who I only really listen to at work which are, Beck, Goldfrapp and Albert Hammond Jr.
