New Musical Espresso

I like going to Virgin Megastore* in my breaks and listening to thirty second clips of songs on new albums. This week: The Hives, Black and White Album, and The Killers, Sawdust. Based on my half-minute overhearings, through much used and probably urinated upon earphones, I'd say The Killers have the better album. And that's saying something since it's an album of B-sides and rare recordings. Has anyone paid money to hear more and give an actual reputable review? The piano version of Sam's Town sounds great.

*What the hell is going on with the store by Tottenham Court Road tube? Zavvi?

I like the idea of judging all albums by 30 second clips. Which is better in thirty second bursts: The Wall, Never Mind the Bollocks Here Are The Sex Pistols or Revolver...

Don't answer now, that might well be tomorrow's poll...

They've started calling it Zavvi (is that supposed to be pronounced like Savvy?) because they want to kill it quietly without damaging the Virgin brand. Is the theory I have just come up with RIGHT NOW.

Like 'savvy', as in what Johnny Depp says throughout Pirates of the Caribbean? Interesting...

There was a management buyout of Virgin Megastores. The bearded one is involved no more.
