Festivals

I wouldn't say that I was eagerly awaiting news of the Reading Rock, or being modern Carling weekend, line up this week but as I already bought tickets I was interested. Metallica, Killers, Rage against machine bit non-plussed. Now lots of talking points I think:

Is it still cool or hip or with it enough to still do festivals or have they all been hijacked by corporate money and students (pah)?

Are the headliners actually important? (not for me certainly)

Is it OK to buy advance tickets so avoiding the Spring scramble?

Is anybody else going to Reading?

Isn't it always incredible how many people know the words of songs of bands I've never heard of?

I'd go and see the Killers I reckon of them.

But yes, the headliners aren't important to me either.

I always think the headliners are almost the worst thing to see at festivals as the crowds are so big for them so its imposssible to get a good view - the best thing is the smaller stuff you stumble on by accident.

I've not been to a proper festival for years though - have been to Wireless in London but thats about it. I think I'm just too lazy for all the camping and tramping around these days.
